2nd of Advent: Bath's Christmas Market

I can without a doubt say that Bath has the most amazing Christmas Market I've ever been to. Not only is the city breath-taking normally but with festive stalls, or pop-up chalets as they are called, it seemed magical. Also, 82% of the stallholders are from Bath or the surrounding region and 76% of products are handmade! I mean how freaking amazing is that? I went last Wednesday around 2 PM and even then the streets were filled with the many shoppers!

Before going, I had done a bit of research at the Christmas Market's website and played around with the interactive map, which I found both cute and insightful.

I did have a few specific shops to seek out but mostly I just wanted to have a wander and look at everything. Only I was struggling with creating the best route, so I did walk past a few shops several times. Better that than not seeing the shops at all!

While most shops were cute and small, one particular "stall" was quite big. The Lodge was a temporary restaurant just outside of the Pump Rooms! I didn't go in but it looked quite cool with the fake snow on their Christmas tree. A friend of mine originally thought that it was a barn for animals when it was first built and she's been teased about that quite a lot.

I got tempted by quite a few stalls and picked up item after item. A few places accepted cards but for majority it was cash only, which I thankfully had prepared for. I was just having the best time, lingering outside the stalls looking in while cupping the hot chocolate with marshmallows I had picked up from Costa on the way there. I didn't even have music in my ears as I often do when I walk around, because there seemed to be musicians on every corner!

In my opinion, the Christmas tree and the stalls definitely made the Abbey look even better.

Another thing I really liked was how almost every stall had decorated the edge of their roof. I spent about two hours just walking around and a lot of that time was spent staring at the unique decorations of each stall.

I also saw a maroon stand and treated myself as I wasn't sure whether I had ever had one before. I chose a salted caramel one and it tasted so delicious although very, very sweet and surprisingly filling too.

As the sky was beginning to dim, I turned homewards. Firstly, I needed to do a bit of grocery shopping so I popped into Marks&Spencers. Of course, that meant I walked right past their Christmas wrapping and decoration section. Or rather I didn't walk right past as I picked up three items for their buy 2, get 3-deal.

I made it home just as the sun set and I decked out the things I had picked up to take a photo to show my mum.

The fairy lights are from chalet 113 "The Fairy Light Company", the wrapped up thing right next to it is a Rudolf painted on glass from chalet 82 "Hoyti Toyti", the tiny Bath charlets at the top are from chalet 104 "Tyro", the puzzle to the right of them are from chalet 140 "Gemini Games and Puzzles", the gingerbread man dog treat beneath it is from chalet 84 "Four Legged Fancy", the Christmas cards in the middle of the pile as well as the two sets of mini baubles are from M&S and finally, the five Christmas pudding decoratings and the heart are from chalet 148 "Tracey Louise Design".

I love everything I've picked out so much! As well as a secret card from chalet 119 "MyBearHands" that's not included above but very, very cute.
