3rd of Advent: My Room

This week as been one of exams, great company, festive spirit and goodbyes. It's my last proper week before I'm heading home next week and it's so odd, not only saying goodbye to the lovely people I've met but also that I'm about to part with the city and the room I've spent so much time in.

So, I thought it was finally time to dedicate a blog post to my room with the few Christmassy touches that December has brought. Like the three Advent calendars on my windowsill. Actually, the few Christmassy things I have in my room where all gifted to me by my grandmother; like the "nisse" and the tiny shoes. She also sent me a "skrabekalender" all the way from Denmark because I usually have one. At the moment only two reindeers away from winning the third best prize, but honestly I'm just happy every time I see a reindeer. They were always my favourite even though they're not the most valuable.

The second calendars is a chocolate calendar and the third is a 12 days beauty calendar that I just finished tester day but I'm not removing it until I leave. I love the fact it's like a glittery little house. I won't be bringing my chocolate one home so "unfortunately" I'll have to eat the ten pieces on the day I leave. What a shame!

While I do sit at my table quite often, I have to confess that I spend the majority of my time in my room on my bed. It's surprisingly comfy for a dorm room and I have no problem snoozing in it - sometimes too much! As always I brought my trusted teddy Milalik with me as he sleeps in the bed with me.

If I ever feel slightly homesick, I just pull him to my chest and bury my nose in his well-worn fur and I feel at ease again. A new comer to my ever-growing teddy collection is the tiny bear below.

He was a gift from my parents and sits on the bedside table. He was made to honour Bath's Rugby team which just turned 50 this year. Hence he's wearing a scarf with their colours. He's much softer than Milalik but for now he stays on the table.

I love my little table and window area and I'm sitting here as I'm writing with the green blanket swung around my shoulders. It was another gift from my grandmother and I love it lots. I also recently bought a pack of Quality Street and now I think I'm addicted. There's so good! I adore the lowest shelf on my storage unit because it's filled with letters and gifts from my family and my books. On the shelves above it I put all my tops but at the moment it's quite empty as I was getting ready to do laundry for the final time.

I also recently added some cream and red rose fairy lights that I have on even during the night. They give my room such a warm glow and because of the colours they also feel slightly festive. When I'm all tucked up in bed, I'll look at them and just feel cosy.

My room also has this brightly coloured bulletin board and even if I don't have much on it, I do love the few bits and bobs that hang on it. The first obviously being the calendar that I've had so much fun filling out in November and December with just a few sentences about my day. Next to it hangs what would have been Milalik's scarf, made by my grandmother, but unfortunately the flags are slipping off so I've pinning it up instead. I still love seeing the UK and Danish flags next to each other.

At the corner of the scarf hangs a tiny card I got from my mum on my birthday as well as a tiny plague that she bought me the last time she was here. It says "Believe in yourself and all that you are" and it's just such a lovely message to have hanging around my room, especially in the stressful time of doing exams and constantly worrying that you didn't study enough.

I love my ensuite bathroom. It's probably the biggest bathroom I'll ever have and it has an actual bath, that I surprisingly have been using a lot. I wasn't used to it but now I've become slightly addictive to lying around, just relaxing in the hot water.

The bath in itself isn't the biggest but it's such a luxury and I'm content with my decision of paying a little bit more to have my own bathroom as opposed to having to share it with 4+ people as in some of the other accommodations.

Today, I made myself a hot chocolate in my whisker mug and walked to one of the other kitchen to have a final chinwag with one of the Canadian girls, who are leaving first thing tomorrow. As always I made my hot chocolate with marshmallows and everyone thought it was so cute.

After a drawn-out goodbye, which actually resulted in me getting a sweet note, a half a box of Quality Street and some cookies, I returned to my room to have one final bath. I had saved my Golden Wonder bath bomb from Lush for this occasion.

While it fizzed away, I jumped in and played a few YouTube videos on my computer. I've gotten a whole system down by now with me taking my office chair into the bathroom and having my computer on that while I soak in the glittery water. It's nice, I like it.

And I think that's it. Now, I better head to the laundry room and pick up my clothes. For my fourth and final Advent post I'll be back in Denmark! I honestly can't wait now that it's less than two days until I leave. However, I still want to make the most of my last full day tomorrow!
